Stanzas from the Museum of Dreams

patient_ot Quite melancholy and dark, but very well crafted for this style of ambient. I think "Elementa" is a slightly more refined than these pieces but I enjoy this release very much as well.

These drone-based pieces are a natural accompaniment to the regular Nunc Stans release from 2010, We Leave Without Speaking (DataObscura). They were composed in the same period and are in a related style.

The album title refers to a belief that the best ambient music is inherently both poetic and dream-like. The poetic side is imagistic, suggestive, and largely mood-based. The dream-like aspect is where these suggestive musical forms take you. It is an excercise of the free imagination and a species of daydreaming or reverie, of being carried away and immersed in another mode of being, another world ... a world set apart.

Museums, of course, also share this feature of isolating their contents from the regular happenings of daily life. To enter a museum is to leave this mundane world behind and become something of a pure spectator, given over to its art, images, curios and architectural splendor. (APK, 2010)

At 47:53 this release is more a regular full album than an EP.

Nunc Stans is the work of Anthony Paul Kerby, who also records as The Circular Ruins, Lammergeyer, and Fictions and Poetics.
